The water is rising and your plumber is three driveways away

A burst pipe has its own clock. The customer is standing at the water main with a phone in one hand and a towel in the other, and every minute your plumber spends finding the property is measured in gallons on the kitchen floor. This is not the moment for “he’s on his way, I promise.”

Emergency plumbing is the trade where arrival anxiety is highest and patience is shortest. The customer can’t leave the shutoff valve to flag down a van. They can’t calmly describe their driveway while watching water climb the baseboards. And your dispatcher can’t do anything except relay increasingly tense phone calls between two people who can’t see each other.

Let them watch the van instead

When your plumber heads out, they share a temporary location link — one tap, sent straight into the customer’s SMS thread. The customer opens it in their browser: no app to install, no account, no password while their house floods. They see the live pin, the route, and an honest ETA counting down.

Watching help approach does something a phone promise never does: it makes the wait survivable. A pin that’s visibly seven minutes out is calming in a way “shortly” will never be. And because the customer can see the van’s every turn, they can text the one thing your plumber actually needs — “side gate is open, water main is behind the garage” — at the exact moment it helps.

Emergencies end. So does the link.

When the job is done, the share expires and the location data is deleted. Your plumbers aren’t tracked to their next job, their lunch, or their home — which is precisely why they’ll actually use it. A tracking app that never stops tracking gets “forgotten” in a drawer. A link that dies on its own timer gets shared on every call-out.
